26 How was 2G Marine established? 2G Marine is an Istanbul based technical management and survey company focused on yachting. We create a ‘’scientific approach to yachting’’. We bring our expertise from Navy shipbuilding, yachting operations and engineering projects. 2G Marine was founded with this heritage. What services does the company focus on? New construction and refit project management, repair planning and monitoring, contracts and specification/configuration writing and consulting, acceptance and milestone surveys, pre-delivery inspections, and expert witnessing. All in consultation with the owner. What are the key points that can bring a good result in a refit and repair process? All parties in this process, for example: shipyard project manager, captain, owner etc. should start the process with a common goal: delivering the perfect yacht at the end of the refit process. Any refit activity without having the result foreseen or expectations defined clearly will end with a dissatisfied client. As a principal of our business, we start the refit project management with an interview with the captain/owner and the designer, to fully understand and manage the expectations at the end of the process. What do you see in the future for the refit industry? The general trends of the global economy have a direct effect on our industry, and in the long term there will be some additional regulations about fossil fuel use and other environmental issues. All these changes will force the yachting industry into a conversion and the future will be Capt/Eng.
